About 40 percent of today's homes were built between 1970 and 1999 and most of the rest after 2000, spread across lake-area streets, golf communities like Buffalo Creek and Heath Golf and Yacht Club, and neighborhoods like Heath Crossing, Highlands of Heath, Chapel View and Stoneleigh. Homes are large and lots are generous. Roofs are steep, tall and complex, and alongside architectural shingle you will find standing seam metal, concrete tile and slate. The older lake homes are now on aging roofs, and many early 2000s custom builds are reaching their first replacement.
Heath sits on the east shore of Lake Ray Hubbard, so storms that cross the lake from Dallas County reach Heath shorelines with nothing to break the wind.
