The 1990s were the biggest building decade, followed by the 2010s, the 1980s and the 2000s, so the typical home is a brick two-story or large one-story with a moderate to steep composition shingle roof. Neighborhoods like Lake Park, Lake Shore Village, Highland Meadows and the Waterview golf community are mostly from that 1980s to 2000s run, and many are now on their first or second roof. Newer areas such as Trails at Cottonwood Creek, the Vineyards and the Sapphire Bay development are adding modern builds with more complex rooflines.

Wind coming across the open water hits shoreline homes first, which is why we see more lifted ridge caps, creased shingles and loose flashing on lake-facing slopes.
